Hello
I'm Tammy Ramsey, and I'm passionate about showing how STEM and skilled trades go hand in hand. Growing up around electricians (thanks, Dad and bro!), then studying Molecular Biology at UNR, and now working in manufacturing, I've seen how science and hands-on skills create amazing career opportunities. The trades aren't just about traditional tools anymore – they're becoming more high-tech every day. From robotics to smart manufacturing, we're seeing a beautiful marriage of technical know-how and practical skills. That's why I'm committed to helping students see that whether they love coding or prefer working with their hands, there's a place for them in modern trades. When we blend STEM education with trades training, we're not just preparing workers – we're creating innovators who can tackle tomorrow's challenges.
Tammy's Story
Raised in Virginia City, Nevada, by an electrician father and with a brother following the same trade path, Tammy Ramsey developed an early appreciation for skilled trades. While her family heritage pointed toward the electrical field, she pursued her own path at the University of Nevada, Reno, earning her degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry.

Her career at Hamilton Robotics merged her scientific background with hands-on manufacturing experience, where she worked extensively with skilled tradespeople. Currently serving in the packaging industry, Tammy continues to support and collaborate with trades professionals, deepening her understanding of the technical expertise required in modern industrial settings.

Tammy's unique combination of family background in electrical work, scientific education, and professional experience in manufacturing makes her an ideal advocate for skilled trades education. As a board member, she leverages this comprehensive perspective to inspire youth toward trades careers, particularly highlighting how traditional trades are evolving with technology. Her insight helps guide students toward understanding the diverse opportunities available in today's skilled trades landscape, where technical knowledge and hands-on skills create pathways to rewarding careers.
